Egg Bot LPT

edited January 2015 in Egg-Bot
Hi, sorry for the translation, I use a translator.

When installed Eggbot, I saw the drivers are USB / LPT.
Can I use the LPT port for controlling stepper motors?

Comments

  • The driver is generic, to cover serial and parallel ports. The EggBot itself requires USB, and is not set up for use with a parallel port.

There are many projects that do use the parallel port for controlling stepper motors. The port is certainly capable of providing the drive signals, but it does not provide enough current for the motor coils, so you would need some kind of external power driver between the port and the motor.

I have the drivers from my cnc machine,
but they they use the parallel port.

Where can I find a description of the parallel port for egg bot.
    I mean pins map.
  • The EggBot does not have a parallel port, only USB.

OK egg bot uses only usb.
but also the driver converts the port pararel
Where can I get a description of the port pins
  • There are no port pins, so there is no description. The EggBot software is written to control a specific device, that does not have a parallel interface.
