Axidraw power

Hey.
What's the safe range for power adaptors on the axi draw? 
My axidraw power transformer does not seam to work. I'm in Portugal so I have to plug an adaptor but when I do it the motors don't move. I've been using a transformer that I had lying around but it's only 0.5A so prints come out with some glitches when all motors move at the same time.
would a 9v 2A be ok?

    Yes, 9 V 2 A would be great. You might be able to get away with 9 V 1 A, but anything more than 1.5 A will be good. The important thing is that it is regulated 9 V DC. The barrel plug is 2.1 x 5.5 mm center positive.
