Compatibility issue

edited January 2013 in Egg-Bot

While trying to install the USB driver for ink scape I receive this error message driver installation failed 0xE000024B. I am currently running a Windows 8  64bit laptop. I am trying to install this version of the driver UBWDriverInstaller_v10.      Version Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939

I have tried to run backwards compatibility however this has not worked.

Please advise me as to what I can do to get my Egg Bot up and operational

Thank you for your help in this matter

  • The USB driver is not actually related to Inkscape, but to communication between your computer and the EBB driver board.  I am in contact with the author of that driver about this issue, and I will keep you up to date.
  • It looks like the problem is that Windows 8 requires a new type of "signature" on the driver installer.
Here is a possible workaround found on another site:

    1. Windows Key + R
    2. Enter shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
    3. Click the "OK" button
    4. System will restart to a "Choose an option" screen
    5. Select "Troubleshoot" from "Choose an option" screen
    6. Select "Advanced options" from "Troubleshoot" screen
    7. Select "Windows Startup Settings" from "Advanced options" screen
    8. Click "Restart" button
    9. System will restart to "Advanced Boot Options" screen
    10. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"
    11. Once the system starts, install the drivers as you would on Windows 7
