Given that it is reproducible, I think that this is a software, or at least timing configuration, issue on your computer. While it cannot absolutely be ruled out, I also cannot imagine that any kind of hardware defect that could cause such a specifi…
I've tried a test print here and don't see any stray lines. This is a good looking file; clean lines, no defects that I can see other than the duplicated lion head. (On the other hand, it looks like you did not zip the SVG before sending it, which …
I'm looking at the file now.
I don't see the stray lines in the file. (I'll keep looking for the cause of that.) However, the lion is indeed doubled in the file-- there are two copies of those vectors, one right on top of the other.
If you are going to install the repository files directly (rather than use the latest release), there is an additional requirement, which is to install the new library "plotink", which has the "doXYMove" command.
You can download the code from htt…
I'm not sure that I've seen that error before. I think that you may not have the right version of plot_utils.py. My version (v 0.4) does not have getLegnth on line 76.
Yikes. That doesn't sound good at all. Nothing short of a strong solvent (alcohol, acetone) should be able to affect the fiberglass.
The EggBot model that you have is actually very little different from the current models. The motors should be compa…
Which model of EggBot is it (other than old)?
It is possible that the jerky movement is due to the motor current setting. When energized, the pen arm should be moveable with gentle pressure, but should not "fall over". If it is too hard to move (whi…
It sounds like you may have a bad servo motor. Please contact us directly at customer service, so that we can get a new one sent out to you: http://shop.evilmadscientist.com/contact
Hmmm. All of the settings should be purely deterministic, and it should work exactly the same way every single time that you print the same design. If something is not coming out consistent, it's hard to imagine what the issue might be.
Do you suppo…
This effect is actually due to map projection, from the different effective radii of curvature on the two axes.
Please see here for more, and recommended workarounds:http://wiki.evilmadscientist.com/Eggbot_Quality_Troubleshooting#Map_Projection
Can you please check the bottom side of the board, to see if there's any sign of damage (or perhaps a missing solder joint?). Also, check the top side for any loose components or bent pins.
Assuming that you don't find anything, please contact cust…
The design of one of our products that is meant to be assembled by the end user is often quite different than the design for assembly at our shop. The present version of the AxiDraw is not particularly suitable for assembly as a kit. (There was, in …
None of your software needs to be updated-- this is not a software version issue. Your EBB version is also fine (unless you manually updated it). The suggestion that I made about the new version was only to add the updated version of the fill extens…
There are two possibilities that I can see:
1. Those lines are actually in your drawing. (Eggbot sees all lines, whether or not you do.) To find out, select all in your drawing (Edit menu > Select all in all layers), and then in your Fill and St…
We're still getting all of the last details completed in terms of installers and docs.
- There will be an installer for the Inkscape extension, along with documentation. If you know how to manage a manual install, you're welcome to get a head start…
We do test the servo output on the EBBs before we send them out, so it should have been working at least in recent history. Double check the orientation, and that you have it connected into the right port on the EBB. You should not have to update th…
Hi Nick, The AxiDraw itself does not have any built-in fonts. The AxiDraw uses system-installed truetype fonts, which can include Greek fonts, if they are installed on your computer.
There are various ways to generate 9-12 V DC from 27 V AC, but it's most likely easiest to use a separate plug-in power supply to power the Art Controller. If you're getting it from our shop, we do carry this power supply that would work: http://sho…
We tend to point people to Thingiverse (with an EggBot tag), and to our community flickr group ( https://www.flickr.com/groups/evilmadscience/pool/ ) but these tend to be underused. I'm afraid that I don't have a better recommendation at present. D…
If you're asking about the source code, search for the word "sensitivity" to see where that value is used.
If you're asking about how to design your installation to give it greater range, try experimenting with things like a halogen lamp, or an infr…
There is not actually code that works that way. There are four sensitivity settings-- and you are welcome to play with those exact thresholds in the code --but the sensors are not true distance sensors. Rather, they are designed to detect nearby mo…
I usually route the servo cable through the mounting screw hole on the servo motor; the one opposite the mounting hole that holds it in place. I don't think that I can recall ever having a print actually ruined by a servo cable smear-- even when us…
